FAQ
StaveWave questions before you upload a score.
Use these answers to decide whether your source file is ready, what to expect from the MusicXML export, and where to review uncertain notation.
- What does StaveWave convert?
- StaveWave converts printed or scanned sheet music from PDF, PNG, JPG, WEBP, and TIFF files into editable MusicXML.
- Which notation apps can open the result?
- The MusicXML export is designed for notation editors that import MusicXML, including MuseScore, Sibelius, Dorico, Finale, and similar score tools.
- What source files work best?
- Clean PDFs and flat 300 DPI scans usually work best. Crooked photos, low contrast, handwritten notation, and dense orchestral pages may need more review.
- How should I review the output?
- Use the confidence notes, warning states, validation findings, and rendered score comparison before trusting the MusicXML in a production score.
- Is the conversion perfect?
- No optical music recognition system is perfect. StaveWave is built to make uncertainty visible so you know which measures deserve a close check.
